Whereas most of Indonesian swords are of Chinese influence, the Podang, with its cross guard, is a derivative of the Tulwar from India. It distinguishes itself with its hollw pommel shaped like a bowl. The blade is often of European origin, exceptionally it can be made of pamor. This example has an unusual short light blade. |
