UKIRAN CENTRAL JAVA
The typical Nunggak Semi shape of the central Java Ukiran dates back to the Mataram kingdom. The current distinction between the Jogya and the Solo type is post 1755, date of the kingdom division. These hilts represent the greatest level of abstraction in the Archipelago, they are representative of the Islam influence, which prohibits representation of living beings but still has remain of the Hindu world with the Patra that recalls a Kala head. | ||||
