SEWAR

The Sewar or Sejwa, Sivas, Siwah, Siwai, Siwar, Siwa is a dagger from Sumatra with an extended protrusion on the side of the sheath mouth, where the sharp edge of the blade is inserted. It is very similar to the Tumbuk Lada from Malaysia or Riau. Both have a  slightly single edge curved blade with a thick back, sometimes with a short groove running along the back. The edge is on the concave side and curves at the tip towards the back.

The blade can be in iron, steel or pamor. It is also believed to have the same power as the Keris.

Sewars sheaths have distinctive shapes according to their region:

Aceh

Minangkabau

Palembang

Lampung
